You Can’t Keyword Optimize Twitter
Much attention has gone towards Search Engine Optimization or SEO recently. There are more tools for optimizing keywords and measuring SERPs than any of us can keep up with. Although online marketing has become heavily SEO focused it is not a total solution. In Social Media, like Twitter or Facebook, its impossible to keyword optimize, theres no such concept there. What exists in Social Media is a reminder that we create content for people to consume, not for machines to analyze.


I agree with your overall point, that most people are enthralled with this concept of SEO being the savior of the day, and they should focus more on writing great content that their target audience wants to read. But now that Twitter and Facebook are showing up on Google it is possible that an optimized Tweet or Facebook Status Update will boost me to the top of the ranks. At the end of the day, I'm sick of playing the game, I'd rather focus my time on writing great content!
